Rob Chen (@ottawaheartrob) is a cardiac anaesthetist and cardiac surgery ICU attending physician at the University of Ottawa Heart Institute (UOHI).
After undergraduate medical training at McMaster University, he obtained an Ontario general license following a rotating internship. He completed anaesthesia residency in Toronto and then pursued resuscitation training in trauma anaesthesia and trauma critical care (FAST). While practicing anaesthesia and critical care (TCD, ONSD) St. Michael's Hospital in Toronto, he took a brief sabbatical to learn TTE and TEE. He was recruited to the UOHI to expand the division of cardiac anaesthesia's teaching reach and POCUS abilities.
His academic interests include multidisciplinary echocardiography and POCUS education.
Rob is also a passable cook and a keen BBQ enthusiast. He has almost as much BBQ gear as cycling gear.
